Bio safety cabinet is a scientific equipment used in a laboratory to provide spotless sterilised air flow into a controlled hub. Class II bio safety cabinet
Class II has four different types in it which are type A1, A2, B1, B2 respectively. Where there are some important classes like A2 and B2.
- A2 – The behaviour of A2 is 70% of air will be reused and 30% of air flows outward towards inside of the room.
- B2 – This saves 100% air emanations out of the sterilised room and uses 0% of air re-use.
Class III bio safety cabinet
This ensures additional safety in terms of offering a hand fixed glove compartment. This has a separate channels for active air flow and approaching air flow through different HEPA filters.
Ensuring Safety
Always wear appropriate PPE before starting work in the BSC. When working with biosafety level (BSL) 1 or 2 specialists, a sterile jacket with a front closure is sufficient, but for BSL-3 and – 4 specialists, a strong front laboratory equipment with a closure at the back is recommended (in the event that in any case I do not work in the laboratory at suits). For BSL-3/4, you must also wear gloves that are stretched over the wrists of a sterile jacket or garment, and a veil and safety glasses are recommended.
